January 9, 1956: JACKSON—James F. Jackson, 87, formerly of 5045 Locust Ave., died Sunday in Anaheim. He was born in Iowa. He lived in Long Beach 34 years. He was a retired grocer and a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Bess Ballinger, Mrs. Sylvia Ballinger, Mrs. Lillie Jandreau and Mrs. Edna Mattocks; brother Frank, and sister, Mrs. Ella Phillips [sic—Phelps]. Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Hunter Chapel, with the Rev. Roy C. Mason officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Memorial Park. [note: The above obituary named his brother Frank as a survivor but Frank had actually passed away in December 1955.] ------------------------------------------ Married Nora B. Davis on 14 Feb 1892 at Greeley, Weld, Colorado, USA Long Beach Sun February 17, 1932: Wedding Anniversary Thirty friends and relatives arranged a gay surprise party for Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Jackson of 5052 Locust avenue, Saturday night on the eve of their fortieth wedding anniversary. The evening was spent in playing five hundred, and ended with the serving of a midnight supper.
