Don Jay Bawden, 85, passed away on February 2, 2011 in Orem, Utah. Born May 26, 1925 in Granger, Utah, son of John Henry and Catherine Warr Bawden. He left home at age fifteen to live with his sister and brother, working at Harding Dairy for many years. Served in the US Navy aboard the Battle Ship Mississippi and witnessed the signing of the peace treaty in Tokoyo Bay. Married Vivian May Benson on May 26, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple; she preceded him in death. Married Bernice Joyner on May 5, 1995 in Orem, Utah. He worked for Kennecott Copper Corp for forty years. Survived by wife, Bernice; children: Don (Marsha) Bawden Jr., Paul (Beverly) Bawden, V. Kathleen (Bill) Shelley, Neil (Sharron) Bawden, Carolee (Joe) Dewey, Rosalie (Bill) Snow, and James (Lorie) Joyner; twenty-nine grandchildren; eighty-four great-grandchildren; sister, Lorene. Also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Maria. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road (1700 West), where viewings will be held on Sunday from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Monday from 11:00-11:45 a.m. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
