Andrew A. Vrba, age 69, of Route 1 Elm Mott, passed away July 30, 1995, at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. August 1 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Tours. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. August 2 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Tours with the Rev. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites followed at St. Martin’s Cemetery conducted by the V.F.W. Post No. 4819. Mr. Vrba was born December 21, 1925, in Tours, the son of Frank and Agnes Vrba. He married Georgia Frances Pokluda on November 15, 1950 in Abbott. He worked for General Tire and Rubber Co. in Waco for 32 years before retiring in 1987. He was also a farmer and carpenter. He enjoyed gardening and playing dominoes. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the American legion Post No. 478. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819. He was also a member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Tours. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Vrba of Elm Mott; four sons, Kenneth Vrba of Rio Vista, Glenn Vrba of Allen, Anthony Vrba of White House and Richard Vrba of Waco; two daughters, Patricia Jung of Leroy and Dr. Kathleen Humphries of Arlington; one brother, Ray Vrba of Mesquite; three sisters, Sister Martha Vrba and Sister Dorothy Ann Vrba, both of San Antonio, and Marcella Scalf of Springfield, Virginia; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were David Holecek, Bill Pokluda, Roy Hutrya, Alvin (Slick) Hlavenka, Robert Kreder and Eugene A. (Buster) Humphries. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Jung and members of the V.F.W. Post No. 4819. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
