Janet Uptmor Jackson, age 68 of Waco, died January 8, 1998 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. January 9 in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2:30 p.m. January 10, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Tours. Burial followed in St. Martin’s Cemetery in Tours. Mrs. Jackson was born in Tours on March 15, 1929. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and a devout Catholic. She enjoyed country music, socializing with others and had a wonderful sense of humor. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Jackson in 1989. Survivors include her sister, Virginia Vrba of Waco; her brother, George Uptmor, Jr. of Dallas; her daughters, Virginia Hoft of Arlington, Sharon Jackson of Capitola, California, Melanie Burman of Flower Mound and Diane Ramirez of McKinney; three grandchildren, Deannah Michelle Lumpkin, Whitney Hoft and Amos Joseph. Active pallbearers were Daniel Burman, Randy Vrba, Gary Vrba, Terry Vrba, Michael Hoft and Paul Ramirez. Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
