Obituary for Martha J. Pope Her obituary is listed in the Courier Gazette 2-22-1929 on page 1 and again 3-1-1929 on page 6 ------- listed in the Democrat 2-28-1929 on page 12. Mrs Martha Pope Dies at Her Home at Chambersville ---Funeral Services Were Held Thursday Afternoon--- Mrs Martha Pope, age 70 years, 5 months and 17 days died Wednesday night (Feb 20) at 11:20 o'clock at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs J. G. Bowers at Chambersville. Mrs Pope was born in Spartansburg, SC and was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Giles. She died following a stroke of paralysis, and had been confined to her bed since September 3, 1928. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Chambersville Church by Rev J. F. Smith of Mckinney. Mrs Pope is survived by three sons and four daughters as follows: Tom Pope, R. H. Pope, Mrs S. J. Reeves, Mrs T. H. Bowers, Mrs J. C. Cooper all of California, J. A. Pope of McKinney and Mrs J. B. Bowers of Chambersville, with whom she made her home. She is survived by two brothers and one sister: J. B. and W. T. Giles of Chambersville, Mrs Emil Young of Milford, Utah. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren. Sam J.
