Bio

Longtime Baytown resident Robert "Bob" Preston Morris, 87, was born July 28, 1923 in Freeport, TX and passed away peacefully on January 26, 2011. Bob served the in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II in Europe. Part of his military service included time as a prisoner of war in a German prison camp. He retired from Exxon's Baytown Refinery with 34 years of service as a Chief Operator in the Fuels North Department. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Jewel McKinzie Morris; daughter, Carol Morris Seburn; brother, Billy Gene Morris; sister, Joyce Morris Cowan; and nephew, Eddie Cowan. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary "Bettie" Morris of Baytown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and Dena Morris of Baytown, George and Irene Morris of Louisville, TN, and Allan and Mary Morris of Marble Falls; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and James Ellington of Baytown; son-in-law, Joseph Seburn and wife, Sandra of Aransas Pass; granddaughters, Staci Bonaventura and husband, Steven and Lisa Davis, all of Sugar Land; great granddaughters, Carli and Donnelly Davis of Sugar Land; great grandsons, Michael, Matthew, James, and Jonathan Bonaventura of Rose Hill, VA; and many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1907 Carolina St., Baytown, TX 77520 on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dwight Canizares officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Bonaventura, Michael Cowan, James Ellington, Chuck Mazoch, Mike Muckleroy, and Joseph Seburn. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Alfaro, Nick Bruye, George Chandler, and Gil Gerlich. His family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Chris Hays and his staff.
