Married to Vinna T. Krick, they had five children, William, Robert, Betty Jeanne, Richard and Dawn. He owned Saddoris Scrap Iron and Metal. Sam's mother died when he was three years old. In 1905, he was sent to Eldora Orphanage. He was adopted by the Reverand and his wife, Leonard of Osceola, IA. He was given the name of Glen Leonard. In his teens he ran away from home and joined the Army at about 17, he enlisted under the Leonard name. He was discharged when his age was discoverd. Sam re-enlisted at age 18 under the name Samuel Saddoris. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was stationed out of Ft. Logan, CO. Sam worked as a baker at Father Flannigan's Home for boys in Omaha, it later became Boy's Town. He made wonderful pastries and his pineapple pie would melt in your mouth. He would make this pie for his daughter Jeanne, on her birthday. Sam was called "Pacat" by his grandchildren whom he dearly loved and loved to spoil. On his way home from work at night, Pacat would stop and pick up small sacks of penny candy. One for each child. In the 60's a siren would sound at 5pm. Shortly after this time, Pacat would pull in the drive way. This siren brought home all the grandchildren from wherever they were in the neighborhood, yelling "candy time".
