Frances Leona Routh, 68, of Independence, died early Monday morning at her home. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Kansas, with Jeff Owen, Chaplain of Hospice of Kansas officiating. Friends & family may call to register on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel. Frances (Vaughan) Routh was born on November 23, 1942 to Odis E. & Sylvia (Conley) Vaughan in Legate, Oklahoma. She went to school in Enville & Dickson, Oklahoma. In 1968 she married Hugh N. Routh in Gaineville, Texas, who precedes her in death. They lived in Oklahoma until 1977 when they moved to Montgomery County in Kansas. Frances went to work in 1979 at Emerson Electric. She worked there until their closing. Frances had a special granddaughter, Leona that lived and took care of her "Nana" for the last 6 years. Survivors include two daughters; Robbin (Howell) Garner & husband Jim and Francine (Howell) Countryman & husband Denny both of Independence; one son; Garth Howell of Grove, Oklahoma; three granddaughters; Leona Truitt & Cheyenne Murphy of the home; Shawnda Howell of Grove, Oklahoma; one grandson; Brandon Kinney of Independence and two great-grandchildren; two sisters; Janie Creecy (Gary) of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Levate Kays of Tackerville, Oklahoma; five brothers; Lloyd Vaughan (Judy) of Tackerville, Oklahoma, Carl Vaughan (Sharon) of Dickson, Oklhoma; Richard Vaughan (Rhonda) & Melvin Vaughan both of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Donald Vaughan of Oklahoma, three step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers & two sisters. The family has suggested memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas and may be left at the funeral home. The family would like to give a big thank you to Hospice Care of Kansas for all the care they provided to Frances and the family in the last couple of years allowing her to remain at home with her loved ones.
