Obituary published in the Herald Coaster on Sun., 11 Dec 1977. Zwahr, Virginia Carvel Funeral services for Virginia Carvel Zwahr, 71, of the Long Point area, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Garmany and Co. Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Burial was in Seiler Cemetery in Fairchild. Mrs. Zwahr died Wednesday at Sweetbriar Nursing Home in West Columbia. She taught school in the Needville Independent School District for 34 years and was a member of the Texas State Teacher's Association, the National Education Association, and the National Education Association, and the National Retired Teacher's Association. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Ellen Utley of Sweeney and Mrs. Cora Lea Hall of Needville; one stepson, Lloyd Zwahr of Needville; two brothers, E. E. Van Steenbergh of Bellaire and S.K. Van Steenbergh of Marble Falls; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Garmany and Co. in Rosenberg.
