Frank Raymond Knapek Feb. 9, 1933 - Jan. 5, 2011 Frank Raymond "Frankie" "Junior" Knapek, from Thrall, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at the age of 77, from a massive stroke at Scott and White hospital in Round Rock. He was born Feb. 9, 1933 to parents John Frank and Mary Michalek Knapek. He had four brothers and one sister. Frank married Adella Havelka-Knapek June 6, 1959 at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. They were blessed to have 51 years together. Frank grew up in Williamson County, first near Turkey Creek as a child and then after marriage in Willis Creek, Waterloo and finally settling in Thrall, where he lived for the last 38 years. He served in the U.S. Army and then worked as a distributor for 7UP. He later worked for Rockdale Alcoa for over 25 years before retiring in 1996. He loved growing flowers and vegetables, spending time at his property in Shiloh, playing dominos and listening to Czech Music. He was a proud Catholic and attended services regularly. He was also proud of his Czech heritage. Frank is survived by his wife, Adella Knapek; two sons Jonathan Knapek and fiancé Laurie Herr and her boys Andy, Daniel and Jack, and Daniel Knapek and wife Michelle; brothers Luis Knapek and wife Blanche, George Knapek and wife Linda, and Joe Knapek and wife Virginia; sister Mary Ann Strimiska; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of Taylor; sister-in-law Tonie Knapek, of Granger; nine grandchildren Katherine, Jeffrey, Joseph and Ashley, of Plugerville, Brendon Knapek and girlfriend Rene, of Georgetown, Cole Knapek, of Austin, Briana Knapek, of San Marcos, Cassandra and Daniel Knapek, of Leander. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Knapek; sister Alice Knapek; brother Johnny Knapek; and brother-in-law George Strimska. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10 and rosary at 7 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor with Msgr. Lonnie Urban officiating. Entombment will follow at the Holy Cross Mausoleum in Granger. Pallbearers will be Brendon Knapek, Cole Knapek, Anthony Knapek, Wesley Knapek, George Michael Knapek and George Strimska, Jr. Frank will be remembered as a hard working and generous man who loved his family and his Czech heritage.
