The son of B. B. Botkins and Nancy Sanders, he was a farmer, according to his death certificate signed by Edgar Botkins of Paris Missouri. --------------------------------- Thanks to contributor, Dennis Stephens (#48479779), for the following: Obituary (Moberly (MO) Monitor-Index, Oct. 6, 1953)- Madison- Joseph William Botkins, 84, died at 6:30 o'clock this morning at the home of two sons, Eugene and Edgar Botkins, southwest of Paris. A native of Monroe County, he spent his entire life in the county. He was married 56 years ago to Miss Amanda Jane Mallory, who died in 1948. He also is survived by three other children, Mrs. Leonard Hayhurst and Harold Botkins, Paris, and Joe Botkins, Monroe City; a brother, Hugh Botkins, Madison; six half-brothers, Sam Botkins, Clarence, Edgar Botkins, Duncan's Bridge, Jewell Botkins, Madison, Arthur Botkins, Monroe City, and Bert and Orbie Botkins, Moberly; and two half-sisters, Misses Lillie and Luvonia Botkins, Madison. The body will be at the home of the sons, Edgar and Eugene Botkins, until funeral services to be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Madison Baptist Church by the Rev. S. B. Owings, Christian minister of Holliday. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery. Mr. Botkins was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
