Monitor Index and Democrat, Moberly, Mo., Monday, January 24, 1938, page 4. Miss Viola Botkins died at midnight last night at her home north of Madison, Mo. She would have been 58 years old Feb. 2. She had been in poor health for a year and had been seriously ill a week preceding her death. Miss Botkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. B Botkins, both of whom are deceased, was born in 1880 on the farm on which she died. She is survived by two sisters, Miss Lily and Miss Luvonia Botkins, with whom she made her home; a half-sister, Mrs. Haley Embree, near Holliday; six brothers, Jewell Botkins of the home, Arthur Botkins of Monroe City, Sam Botkins of Clarence, Edgar Botkins of Duncan's Bridge and Bert and Orva Botkins of Moberly; two half-brothers, Hugh and Joe Wl. Botkins, both living near here; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at Pleasant Green Baptist church, north of Madison, Mo., where Miss Botkins had been a member since she was 12 years old.
