Bio
James E Smead, 77 of 922 54th St Moline died today at home. Services will be 11 am Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline. The Rev. Kenneth Johnson, First Lutheran Church Moline and the Rev. J. Erik Holmer, visitation pastor of the church will officiatte. burial will be in Greenview memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 Monday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the choir at First Lutheran Church. Mr. Smead was born in Hocking Iowa. he married Pearl C Peterson in January 1936. He was a coal miner for 22 years in Hiteman Iowa area, a molder at Moline Iron Works for 27 Years and the was a custodian for 10 years at First Lutheran Church, retiring in 1973. he was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Percy R., Rock Island, and James E Jr., Moline; two daughters, Mrs Kenneth Reveal, Rapid City and Mrs Robert Weber, Cambridge; 13 grandchildren and a great grandson.
