Excerpt from book written by Gerhard Dick born 1852 Mother Katherina Friesen was born December 29, 1827 in Furstenwerder, South Russia. She was raised at home with her brothers and sisters till at the age of 18 years her mother died, and father died 2 years later. So all the children had to leave home serving families in the neighborhood, according to the Mennonite rules in Russia. The things father and the children had achieved the stepmother got so the children had to leave empty-handed. Mother served in Pardenau from where father married her. When they came to America they made their stay at Uncle Jacob Friesen's for a while and then moved to a farm one mile west of Henderson. Because father being so terrible dissatisfied for leaving Russia Mother had many sad experiences, especially when her daughter died so young, but she patiently carried everything. She was sick for 9 years and after severe suffering she died on December 19, 1893 being 66 years less 10 days old. After mother died father sold the farm and moved with J.H. Wiens in Oklahoma. After 4 years they moved back to Henderson, Nebraska again. Father died December 1, 1911. He was 86 years and 7 months old. They are both buried in the cemetery 1 1/2 miles west of Henderson, Nebraska
