Peter A. and Katherine (Dueck) Friesen came [from Russia, to America] on the SS Vaterland [in 1877], leaving Antwerp, Belgium, and arriving in Philadelphia. Peter's father and mother, Heinrich and Agnetha Friesen, and two more of their sons, John-20, and Isaac, 17, also came at this time, as did another son Jacob and his wife and two children. Heinrich Friesen bought and settled on a farm 1 mile north and 1/2 mile west of Inman, Kansas. They built a sod house about in the middle of the 160 acres. The house and barn were built in one, the house was on the south end and the barn on the north. Peter A. Friesen had married Katherine Dueck on May 30, 1876, in Russia. They settled on a farm near Henderson, Nebraska. Three children were born to them and in the year 1880, Katherine died. That left Peter with two daughters as his son Henry had died in Nebraska. In 1881, Peter A. Friesen came to Inman, Kansas, and married Justina Klassen. _______________________________________________________________ Birth: 13 Aug 1855, Margenau, Molotschna, South Russia Immigration: 29 Jun 1877, S.
