Ventura County Star Free Press (Ventura - Official Name San Buenaventura - CA.), P. 1, Col. 3 Mon., Aug. 15, 1949 Fred Joehnck Dies In Santa Barbara Fred Joehnck sr., long-time resident of Ventura county, died yesterday at a Santa Barbara hospital after a brief illness. He was 87 years old. Mr. Joehnck came to Oxnard in 1891 from Grand Island, Neb. He started work as a building contractor and built many of the Sugar City's first buildings. He moved to Ventura in 1942, where he made his home until his death yesterday. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Rebekah and Eagles lodges. He leaves a son, D. F. Joehnck, Santa Barbara; a grandson, Robert D. Joehnck, Santa Barbara; a granddaughter, Mrs. C. L. Williams, Santa Barbara; two great-grandchildren in Santa Barbara and three brothers and three sisters in the east. Funeral services will be conducted from the Diffenderffer-Haines mortuary in Oxnard at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Interment will follow in Ivy Lawn.
