WILLIAM WOODROW "BILL" RAMMAGE William Rammage, age 98, died Friday, December 17, 2010 in Dalhart, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P,M, Central Time on Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Texline Baptist Church in Texline, Texas with Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bertrand Cemetery near Felt, Oklahoma, by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico. William Woodrow "Bill" Rammage was born on November 4, 1912 at the family home near Felt, Oklahoma to James Rammage and Susie (Browder) Rammage. He attended school in Texline until the family moved to the Bertrand community where he graduated the 8th grade. Bill later received an honorary high school diploma from Felt High School. He joined the Army and served one term and was discharged just before Pearl Harbor, he rejoined the Army and served in the 45th Infantry Division in the Signal Corp serving in Africa, Italy, Germany and France. Bill then lived in Pueblo, Colorado and worked in an ice plant and was self employed as a basement digger with a horse and slip. Bill married Dora Mae (Howell) Rammage on December 22, 1945 and she preceded him in death on December 20, 1976. They made their home in Texline where he worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Department until he retired in 1973. Bill accepted Christ as his savior when he was 8 years old and was a member of the Texline Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and enjoyed working in the nursery. He was also a member of the Gideons. In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Elizabeth Meyers, Irene Benson, Clara Perkins and Agnes Taylor and 4 brothers; Henry Rammage, George Rammage, Jim Rammage and Tom Rammage. SURVIVORS: 2 DAUGHTERS: Sue Ellen Burton and her husband Shelby of Stratford, Texas and Charlene Newlon and her husband David of Texline, Texas. 2 SONS: Rev. Billy Rammage of Clayton, New Mexico and Jim Rammage of Austin, Texas. 6 GRANDCHILDREN: David R. Newlon and his wife Amy, Nathan Newlon and his wife Monica, Carla Willis and her husband Chris, Lachelle Anderson and her husband Tom, Tammie Nichols and her husband Jerid and Quince Burton and his wife Janna. 3 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Abigail Newlon, Benjamin Newlon and Caden Nichols. 1 BROTHER: Joe Rammage of Dalhart, Texas And many nieces, nephews and cousins. MEMORIALS: The family suggests that memorials be made to the Gideons International, the Texline Baptist Church in Texline, Texas, the Cactus Baptist Church in Cactus, Texas or to the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico.
