Normangee Star Volume XIX No 36, July 16, 1931 Mrs. Mary Orr Called Home At the family residence on the evening of July 13th, Mrs. Mary Orr passed away after an illness following a stroke of paralyis several weeks ago. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock by her pastor Rev. S. H. Innes. Exquisite floral offerings banked the chancel rail and wre grouped about the lovely white casket. Pallbearers were her four nephews, W. D., J. M. and V. C. Mcdonald, J. M. Hunt and Jack Ellison and E. G. Palmer. The McCullough-Dansby Funeral Home of Bryan was in charge of the ceremonies. Bro. Innes read appropriate Scriptures and spoke at length of the many noble Christian virtues of the departed mother who was faithful to her relation of life. He told of her love for God's work and her loyalty to her church and her pastor, and her delight in the worship and services. Mrs. Orr was formerly Mary Tennessee McDonald and was born in Brazos County near Edge. She was married to George Wesley Orr in 1883 and their union was blessed with five children, three of whom survive her; Mrs. O. H. Simms, Mrs. J. B. Batson, and Miss Emma Orr. The song services were continued by the choir at Hopewell Cemetery where the body was tenderly laid to rest. A rich heritage is bequeathed to the sorrowing loved ones in the memory of her useful and faithful Christian life. Which shall continue to "blossom and fruit on the other side of God's wall. She has "gone up to her coronation" "And that will be a crowning, such as Earth has never seen. When we shall gather around the great White Throne" The Star joins many in offering sympathy to the bereaved family. Find A Grave contributor Gary W. Adams
