Ward, Childress CHILDRESS, Texas - Vera Jo Ward, 82, died Thursday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim McCurley, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Kirkland, Texas, Cemetery. Mrs. Ward was born July 5, 1910, in McKinney, Texas. She had lived in the Childress area since 1919. She had worked as an PBX operator at Childress Hospital. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Survivors include son, Jewett Scarbrough of Pampa, Texas; a sister, Marion Clark of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
