Folk Figure. Born Sarah Griffin Lewis in Albemarle county, Virginia, in 1786, the family resettled in Missouri. Some five years later, the announcement of her marriage to Daniel Morgan Boone, eldest surviving son of the legendary frontiersman Daniel Boone, and government surveyor in the (present) Missouri counties of St. Charles, Warren, Montgomery and Lincoln, was posted in St. Charles county, Missouri. The couple were married on March 2, 1800, the groom being twice as old as the teenage bride at the time. The couple had twelve children, ten sons and two daughters. The family moved to Montgomery county, Missouri, in 1816. Some accounts describe her as having the stature of an Amazon. She died at the age of 64, having survived her husband by eleven years.
