Bio

Burnison-July 13, 1888 in Grant Township, Mrs. P. J. Burnison died of heart disease. Died July 13, 1888 at her home in Grant Township, Mrs. Mary Ann Weech Burnison, wife of Peter John Burnison. Mrs. Burnison was aged 39 years, 7 months, and 11 days. She was born in England and came to Illinois when ten years old, and was married to P. J. Burnison in 1868 in Knox County, Illinois. In 1870 they moved to their place in Montgomery County, Iowa, where they have since lived. She was a noble, good woman, a good neighbor, a good wife and mother and will be sadly missed by all. She was a faithful worker in the Sunday School and the Sunday before her death was in her accustomed place as teacher of the young ladies' class. Little did they think that the next Sunday they would gather around her coffin. He death, like her life, was sweet and peaceful. She leaves a sweet memory for husband an children, sisters and brother, to cherish-a hallowed influence to lead them to follow her to the better world. Elder W. H. Hardman of Glenwood, preacher her funeral sermon on Sunday morning, July 15, to a large audience of loving friends. She was buried in the south cemetery. "The blessings of her life, kind, patient, brake, The smiles she had about her daily path! Her sunny mood, her calm, unfaltering faith, These were not put away in the lone grave."
