Wife of William Mrs. Sarah J. Burnison died at her home in Corning Wednesday evening, January 30, at 7:30. Her death followed a stroke of paralysis which she suffered last Wednesday. Mrs. Burnison had not been well for the past four years but was able to be up and about until Wednesday. Funeral services will be held from the Methodist Church, Friday, February 1, 1928 at 2 p.m. with Rev. G.T. Roberts in charge. Interment will be made in Prairie Rose Cemetery. Sarah J. Weech was born October 2, 1846, at Somerton, England, and died January 30. 1929, being at the time of her death 82 years, 3 months and 28 days old. Her parents came to the United States when she was quite young locating at Amda, Illinois. She was one of a large family, having five brothers and four sisters.In 1864, she was married to William Cox and to this union four children were born. Her husband and three children preceded her in death. The deceased children are Mrs. Ida Fudge, Orrin W. Cox and Noah Cox. Charles M. Cox is the only surviving child. In 1893 she was married to John P. Burnison at Red Oak. For a while they lived five miles south of Red Oak, later moving to Red Oak. Mr. Burnison died in 1904 and some time later Mrs. Burnison moved to Corning where she has been cared for during later years by her son, Charles Cox. She was a life long member of the Methodist Church and was a member of the W.R.C. One aged sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Gustafson and one brother, James Weech, survives her, the latter living in California. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
