Bio

Daniel "Dan" Pustejovsky, 79, of Hillsboro, died Oct. 9, 2005, at his home with his family at this bedside, following a courageous battle with colon cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery in Abbott. Visitation will be at 6 p.m.Tuesday, with Rosary to be recited beginning at 7:15 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors East Side Chapel in Hillsboro. He was born Aug 28, 1926 in West, son of Joe D. and Mary Kolar Pustejovsky. He married Flo Marie Thompson September 9, 1946 in West. The two were parents of ten children. Dan grew up in Hill County and attended Abbott High School. He attended Texas A&M University from 1943-1946. He also served in the Navy Air Corps. A farmer and plant seed breeder, Dan owned numerous farms in the Hill County area. He was very active in the Texas Farm Bureau, serving as President, Vice President and Secretary of the Hill County Farm Bureau and represented Farm Bureau District 4 as a Director. At the time of his death, he was serving on the Executive Board. He also served on the statewide Boll Weevil Management Committee, Corsicana Production Credit Association, Field Corps Committee of the TFB and as president of the Blackland Cotton and Grain Producers Association. In 2003, he received the Meritorious Service Award, the highest honor presented by Texas Farm Bureau. Dan was an active member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus No. 10375 and KJZT, receiving his 50 year pin in 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Larry Pustejovsky in 1987 and Ted Pustejovsky in September 2005. Survivors include his wife, Flo Marie Thompson Pustejovsky of Hillsboro; sons and daughters, Diane Davison and husband Mickey of Hillsboro, Linda Gerik and husband, Dennis of Aquilla, Janice Markwardt and husband, Vernon of Itasca, Susie Hargrove and husband Richard of Burleson, Rick Pustejovsky of El Paso, Edward Pustejovsky and wife Lea of Prim, Tenn., Marge Kemp and husband Ed, of Deming, N.M. and Jim Pustejovsky and wife Sharon of Lake Mary, Fla., 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Dan is also survived by three sisters, Dorothy Gerik and husband Edwin of Whitney, Marcella Kittock and husband, Larry of Dallas and Barbara Kazda and husband Richard of Ft.
