New Braunfels Herald Zeitung Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002 Robert "Glen" Lowrie (CDR, U.S. Navy, Ret.), age 86 of New Braunfels, Texas, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 at The Arbor House in New Braunsfels. He was born on Feb. 21, 1916 in Kaufman County, Texas, to John Robert and Nora Mae (Hitt) Lowrie. He was a 1940 graduate of Texas A & M University and married Cecilia H. Vavra on July 3, 1943, in Bryan, Texas. He was a member of the New Braunfels Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge in Terrell, Texas, and member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Kingsville. His military career in the U.S. Navy was served during WWII and the Korean and Vietnam wars. Survivors include his wife, Cecilia H. Lowrie of New Braunfels, Texas; daughter, Patti MacDonald, and husband, Robert, of New Braunfels, Texas; son, Robert W. Lowrie, and wife, Lorraine, of Lebanon, Penn.; brother, Curtis G. Lowrie, and wife, Jeana, of Grand Prairie, Texas; sisters, Ethel M. Lewis of Duncanville, Texas, and Troy Lee Day and husband, James W., of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren, Robert G. Hengel and Kacie Hengel, Nathan and Craig Lowrie. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the New Braunsfel Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Peters officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of one's choice. Visitation will be conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home. The family will be there during that time to receive friends.
