Cecilia Helen Lowrie Cecilia Helen Lowrie, of New Braunfels, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio at the age of 88. Cecilia was born on November 22, 1917 at College Station, Texas to William Joseph Vavra and Sophia Josephine Kapchinski. Cecilia later married the love of her life, Glen Lowrie, on July 3, 1943 in Bryan, Texas. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church since 1977 and a member of the Christian Mother's Society. In addition, she was also a wonderful mother and a devote Christian. Her passions were quilting, sewing, knitting, embroidering, needlepointing, and cooking. Cecilia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen Lowrie, who passed away on November 4, 2002, as well as by two brothers, Frank L. Vavra and Herman J. Vavra. Survivors include her daughter, Patti MacDonald and husband, Robert, of New Braunfels; son, Robert W. Lowrie and wife, Lorraine, of Lebanon, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Robert and Kacie Hengel and Nathan and Craig Lowrie, and by a brother, Martin E. Vavra and wife, Geraldine, of Bryan, Texas. A rosary will be lead by the Christian Mother's Society at 5:00 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels. Following the rosary, the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday evening, with viewing lasting until 9:00 PM. The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, January 27, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels with the Rev. Marvin Koenig officiating. Burial will follow later that afternoon at 2:15 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Deacon Ben Wehman officiating.
