Mrs. Leta Mae McKinney, age 93, of Loveland Colorado, went home to Heaven on Saturday, April 7, 2018. She was a resident of Brookside Memory Care, Loveland, CO. Leta was born on April 24, 1924 in Arkansas to Harvey and Gertrude Browers. She was joined in marriage to George McKinney on August 24, 1941. The union was blessed with five children. Her loving husband proceeded her in death on December 27, 1995. Leta had a deep and abiding love for God and was a long-time member of Faith Baptist Church in Longmont, CO. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening. She had a love for the mountains, especially the Durango area where she and George built two cabins. Leta also enjoyed quilting, bowling, and playing board games. She will always be remembered as the undisputed master of Yahtzee by her grandchildren. Leta also adored her Bichon companion, Holly. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children: Don (Karen) McKinney of Fountain Hills, AZ, Katherine Javernick of Fort Collins, CO, Lynda Stebing of Arlington, TX, Diana (Charles) Osgood of Loveland, CO, and Kristi McKinney (George Pappas) of Albuquerque, NM. Leta loved spending time with her twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of devoted nieces and nephews who knew her as mama Leta. She was predeceased in death by her adoring husband, George McKinney, grandson, Wayne Stebing, and siblings, Marvin Browers, Emery Browers, Vola Weeks, Norma Allen, Jack Browers and Jean Browers. The service will take place on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 10am at Howe Mortuary in Longmont, CO. Pastor Rob McClelland of Loveland, CO will be officiating the service. The pallbearers will be Keith Waggoner, grandson in-law, Daniel Javernick, grandson, Michael Stebing, grandson, Ryan Waggoner, great-grandson, Aidan Waggoner, great-grandson, Bryce Waggoner, great-grandson, and Brendan Monroe, great-grandson. Graveside services will take place immediately following the service at Mountain View Cemetery, Longmont, CO. Our family would like to express our deepest love and thanks to Vanessa Lang who cared for Leta with love, kindness, and respect. Special thanks to Seniors Helping Seniors, Pathways Hospice, and Brookside Memory Care.
