Idaho Press Tribune Norma Lee Allen 02/10/00 Norma Lee Browers Allen, 67, of Nampa, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 8, 2000 at Mercy Medical Center in Nampa following a brief and courageous battle with leukemia. Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2000 at the Nampa First Baptist Church, 1417 3rd. St. S. Pastor David Rowe will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Service arrangements are under the direction of Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa. Norma Allen was born at home on September 29, 1932 in Decatur, Arkansas. She graduated from Decatur schools then worked for Pluss Poultry in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. It was there she met Elwood Allen, her future life partner. They were married on Oct. 4, 1953 in Decatur when Norma was 21. After living a short time in California, they moved to Nampa. She worked briefly at Simplot in Caldwell before starting a family. Norma and Elwood nurtured and parented three children during their loving marriage. Norma worked as a school cook after her youngest child entered school. She became the Supervisor of the Nampa School Lunch Program until she retired in 1984. After retirement Norma and Elwood worked as camp grounds keepers at Cathedral Pines Baptist Church Camp out of Sun Valley. She then worked part-time for Quinco Credit Union in Nampa until 1989. Recently she worked at The Bargain Boutique in Nampa until her illness. Norma was an active volunteer in her community. She spent many years giving of her time to her church, Nampa First Baptist. She also volunteered for Mercy Medical Center, Love Inc., Nampa Civic Center and others. Norma loved to travel and be around her family. She was a loving wife, mother and friend to many. Her absence will leave a void in many lives until we see her sweet face again in Heaven. Norma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Steve Hood, Arlington, Washington; son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Trina Allen, Nampa; a son, Perry Allen, Boise; four grandchildren, Nathan Allen, of Nampa, and his wife, Britney and her great-grandson, Payton Elwood Allen, of Nampa; also Craig Caleb, Larissa and Ian Hood; two sisters, Leta McKinney, Longmont, Colorado, and Vola Weeks, Siloam Springs, Arkansas; and a brother, Marvin Browers, Decatur, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Gertrude Browers; siblings, Wilma, Gene, Jack and Emery Browers; and by her loving husband, Elwood. Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Nampa First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 1417 3rd. St. S., Nampa 83651 or the American Cancer Society, 2676 S. Vista Ave., Boise, ID 83705.
