Bio

Flora Emily Schutza "Grandma", 93, of Waco, a strong-willed hardworking, affectionate mother, grandma, great- and great-great-grandma, and friend of many, joined her husband and sons in heaven on Tuesday morning, June 3, 2003, at her residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead with the Rev. Joel Boesche officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Schutza was born Jan. 12, 1910, in Sagerton, the daughter of Fritz and Clara (Stephan) Havemann. she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After attending schools in Sagerton, she met and married the love of her life, Alfred H. Schutza, on Dec. 27, 1934. She and Alfred worked a successful farm and provided an honest Christian atmosphere to their entire family, a place where everyone was welcome. After more than 50 years of marriage, Alfred preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1989. Flora worked in retail sales for McCrory's in Waco for 20 years until her retirement.... She was a faithful charter member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gene Schutza and Lawrence Schutza. Survivors include son, Al Schutza Jr. of Cave Creek, Ariz.; daughters, Carol Snider and husband Bill of Waco, Shirley Hooper and husband George of Austin and Doris Martin of North Richland Hills; daughters-in-law, Margie Schutza and Helen Schutza, both of West; sisters, Bertha Otto of Waco and Lena Schultz of Iowa, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and was blessed with a great-great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Friends for Life of Providence Hospice.
