Kenneth Rean Moravek, 82, the son of Matthias and Anna (Hajny) Moravek, was born June 2, 1914, on a farm on White Rock Creek between Burr Oak and Esbon, He died Jan. 7 at his home in Guide Rock. Raised in the Esbon community, he received his formal education attending the Rose Hill rural school. He married Gwen Henrickson, June 5, 1937, in Fremont. They lived and farmed in the Esbon area. To his farming he added trucking, dairying, bulldozing, manufacturing, carpentering and finally custom harvesting which became a 40-year career starting in 1952 with one machine and grew to include 10 machines. They moved to Guide Rock in 1959. In 1976, they operated Granny's Kitchen. They retired from harvesting in 1985. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Iva Johnson. Survivors include his wife of 59 years; a daughter, Mrs. Ted Schomburg (Ruth), Kasson, Minn; two sons, George, Laurel, N.Y., and Frank, Guide Rock; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services were held Friday from the United Methodist Church, Guide Rock, with the Rev. Al Trucano officiating. Interment was in the Guide Rock Cemetery with the Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is charge of arrangements.
