Bio
Gwendolyn E. "Gwen" Moravek, the daughter of Tim (Emery) and Elzora Hendrickson, was born September 29, 1913 at Guide Rock, Nebraska. She departed this life on Monday, April 17, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 18 days. Gwen graduated from the Guide Rock High School, and then took Normal Training at Esbon, Kansas while her father was doing construction work there. While living in Kansas, Gwen met Kenneth Moravek. They were united in marriage in 1937 and live in and around Guide Rock for the first few years of their marriage. While there, Gwen taught country school until they moved to Esbon to farm. In 1957, they started a custom harvesting business, cutting wheat for customers from Oklahoma to North Dakota. They continued in this business until about 1995. Cooking, painting and teaching Sunday School were some of Gwen's interests. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; a sister, Ruth Mizner, and two brothers, Bus (Marion) and Keith Hendrickson. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Ruth Schomburg and husband Ted of Kasson, Minnesota; George Moravek of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and Frank Moravek and wife Ellamae of Superior, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
