I requested his military records when I began my family quest many years ago, but was advised, his records along with thousands of others were destroyed in a fire at Saint Louis many years ago. He said that he was a "Buck Sgt" but you couldn't get the records to prove it. If you'll look at the picture of him in a jacket, those are Buck Sgt. stripes. In the first picture with his wife the stripes are of a Corporal. The next level after Buck would be Staff Sgt. with three stripe pointing upward and on semi-circle connected to the uprights. The Buck Sgt. is usually in command of 9 or 10 men. This paragraph thanks to an email from Glenn (glehort(at)cinci.rr.com) group picture of soldiers to the left is my dad (2nd from left) and 3 buddies, maybe part of his squad? i don't know their identity. My dad served in Europe.
