Funeral services for Louis John Pavel, 80 of Clarkson, were held Tuesday, September 24, 1990 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic church in Clarkson. Burial was in the Clarkson Catholic Cemetery. He died September 22, 1990 at Schuyler Memorial Hospital. Louis John Pavel, son of Joseph and Katherina (Jonas) Pavel was born May 19, 1910 at Morrison, Oklahoma. He was a 1927 graduate of Clarkson High School and received his teaching degree from Wayne He married Jeroma A. Fendrick May 14, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Schuyler. He was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, American Legion and the Nebraska State Education Association. Louis served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, where he taught enlisted men to read and write. He taught school in Clarkson from 1945 to 1970 and also was superintendent from 1957 to 1970. He taught in Howells from 1971 to 1980. Survivors include his wife, Jeroma of Clarkson; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Dr. Duane and Joyce Pavel of Howells, David and Lynn Pavel of West Des Moines, Iowa, a granddaughter Sarah, a brother Ed of O'Neill, four sisters, Rose Havel of Neligh, Marie (Adolph) Bartak of Ewing, Libbie (Emerson) Loseke of Chambers, and Agnes (M Ed) Lueke of Schuyler. He was preceded in death by a sister Anna Pavlis, four brothers, Adolph, Joe, Ben and Jack.
