Ewing - Services for Marie B. Bartak, 94, Ewing will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church here. The Revs. Costa de Oliveira and Carroll French will officiate with burial in St. Anthony's Cemetery near Ewing. She died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at the Neligh Nursing Center. The daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Jonas) Pavel was born Aug. 23, 1906, at Morrison, Okla. She moved with her family to Clarkson in 1913, where she graduated from high school and became a rural school teacher. She attended summer sessions at Wayne State College. On July 30, 1929 at the Presbyterian parsonage in Clarkson she married Adolph Bartak. The couple lived on a ranch southwest of Ewing until moving into town in 1975. They traveled extensively and spent their winters in Arizona. She became a resident of the Neligh Nursing Center in 1997. She was survived by 2 daughters and their husbands, 8 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, one son, six brothers and four sisters.
