Co R 13 KY CAV George was the son of Sarah Humphreys and Aaron VanHook; he was the husband of Nancy Langford VanHook. His birthdate information is taken from the 1900 US Census which was enumerated on 25 Jun 1900 in Blue Springs, Gage County, Nebraska. After that time he evidently moved to Washington and likely died there. “Geo Van Hook, an old soldier who has been a resident here for the past five or six years, died last Tuesday evening at his home in the west end of town. Mr Van Hook, who was 80 years of age, was taken sick a couple of weeks ago with erysipelas which continued to spread and from the effects of which he died on Christmas Day. He came here with his family from the south and settled on a farm. About three years ago his wife died and he moved to town, where he has since resided. Although a southerner Mr Van Hook fought with the North in the Civil War. Three sons and two daughters survive him. His daughter Mrs Ras__, who lives north of town, Mamie, and his son George were with him at the time of his death.
