Jewel H. Beasley, Jr, 90, of Longview, Texas, was born in Rusk, Texas, to Jewel H. Beasley, Sr. and Eula Kinney Beasley on December 28, 1933. Jewel was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Liberty City, served as a member of the missions committee, and the new sanctuary building committee. He enjoyed being a part of the Men's I Sunday School Class. Later, he was an active member of Caney Creek Baptist Church. Jewel was a mechanic by trade and was the owner-operator of HEMCO, Inc. until he retired in 1990. His favorite hobby was any "work project", especially one that allowed him to run a dozer, a backhoe, a tractor, or pull a loaded trailer just about anywhere. Jewel has a servant's heart and found great joy in helping others. He spent much of his time serving his community and volunteering in mission work. He loved socializing with family and friends. He is well known for being the life of the party and telling stories about growing up in Maydelle and the infamous "Big Willie" adventures. It should be noted that he loved his puppy and sidekick, Frannie Mae. Jewel was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Charlie Beasley, Jesse Beasley, Frank Beasley, Pete Beasley, James Beasley, Ruth Fletcher Catherine Knapp, George Beasley, Mae Pierce and Faye Mangham.
