From the Athens Review, April 30, 1925 Leonard Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. N.J. Cox was born May 31, 1905 and departed this life April 1, 1925 at the age of twenty years and ten months. Leonard resided with his parents near Athens, Texas, in the Shelby Chapel community until last September when it was decided that a change of location would be beneficial to his father's health, therefore the family moved to Hubbard City, Texas, where on March 27, Leonard suffered a severe attack of appendicitis and succumbed to the same in a sanitarium in Waco, Texas. Leonard was a Christian young man having confessed faith in Christ at an early age, uniting with the Presbyterian church. He was a member of the Christian Endeavor Society of his church and was ready and willing to assist in any or all activities concerned with this organization. He was of a noble character and a most un-selfish boy. In his own home he proved himself a true, affectionate son and brother. It is hard to say goodbye to Leonard, dear loved ones, but still you have an assurance that if you will continue your trust in Go you will some day meet him in his celestial home. Funeral services were held from the Shelby Chapel church by Rev. E.S. Martin, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Athens and his body was laid to rest in the Shelby Chapel grave yard. A FRIEND
