Bio

The Weekly News-Democrat, 06 Jul 1873, Friday DEATH OF MRS. G. E. Frederick Mrs. Pauline Frederick, wife of our fellow-citizen G. W. Frederick, died at her residence in this city on Saturday, May 31st, at 4:30 p.m. Her funeral took place at the Baptist chapel on Sunday at 4 p.m., and was attended by a long concourse of relatives, friends and neighbors. We believe the procession to Maplewood cemetery was the largest one we have ever seen attend a funeral in this city. Mrs. Frederick was an old and valued resident of Emporia, having come here with her family in the fall of 1857. She had been a kind hearted neighbor, an industrious worker in all good causes, and she was endeared to all with whom she came in contact. Mrs. Frederick was born in North Carolina, in October, 1833; moved to Indiana i 1839; united with the Christian church in 1849; was married to G. W. Frederick on the 26th day of May, 1853. In the fall of 1857, while the country was yet new, the family took up their residence on a claim near this city. She was one of the organic members of the Christian church in this city. Most of her time had been spent in the city, and for many years Mrs. Frederick was an invalid. Her sufferings had been terrible, and the energy displayed in her daily avocations, and the Christian patience under her long sufferings, have been remarked by all her acquaintances. In these respects we have seldom seen her equal. At last the suffering soul, the wrecked body, the aching heart and limbs are at rest. She died peacefully and calmly in the full hope of future glory. Her last hours spiritually were the happiest of her life. Calmly she breathed her last on that beautiful last day of spring. She has gone over "that dark river," and was wearing a crown which was waiting for her. Her bereaved husband, daughter, mother, brother and friends weep not as those without hope.
