Bio

Eunice Odom Baker, 102, of Whitney, Texas, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Whitney. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with the Rev. Jerry Irvin officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery in Whitney. Eunice was born in Aquilla, Texas, to the late Lem and Sarah (Matthews) Odom. On Oct. 26, 1934, she married Orval E. Baker. She was a longtime resident of Whitney and served as a teacher in Lebanon, Aquilla, and Whitney for over 40 years. Eunice was a longtime member of King Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Orval, on Oct. 3, 1985; and sister, Mary Odom Moore . She is survived by numerous nieces; nephews; friends; and former students.
