Bio

Mary Odom Moore, 98, of Whitney, Texas, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with the Rev. Jerry Irvin officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery in Whitney. Mary was born in Aquilla, Texas, to the late Lem and Sarah (Matthews) Odom. She was a longtime resident of Whitney and served as an elementary teacher and as a principal for 43 years in the Whitney ISD. On Oct. 21, 1931, she married Floyd Moore. She was a 50 year member of Phi Beta Kappa and a longtime member of King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney. She was preceded in death by her husband in December, 18, 1934; and a daughter, Elinor Ann Moore Miller. Survivors include daughter, La Jean Moore Overton and husband, Oliver Roy, of Burleson; granddaughter, Tammy Overton, of Burleson; grandson, Larry Overton and wife, Kathi, and their sons, Brent and Blake, all of Richardson; sister, Eunice Odom Baker , of Whitney; and numerous other relatives and friends.
