Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska, Thursday, October 5, 1989, Page 8, Column 3 William W. Beams Rites Sept. 30 William W. Beams of Omaha was born February 19, 1900 to John and Jessie Bennett Beams at Belgrade, Nebraska and died September 26, 1989 at St. Josephs Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 89. He grew up on the family farm in Nance county helping with the farm work. He attended country schools near Belgrade. In 1929 he married Nellie Thompson. He worked at the grain elevator in Arcadia for a short time and also as a road maintenance worker for Valley County. On April 17, 1954 he married Francis Duval Layne, Bill ran his own tree removal business as well as a refuse business. He worked for some time at the Ammunition Plant in Grand Island. William attended the Congregational Church of Arcadia. Survivors include three daughters: Faith Beams of Omaha, Elva Bell Burt of Davis, CA and Gwendlyn Keldsen of Lincoln; one son, Floyd Beams of Blacksburg, VA; a step-son, David Orth of Wichita, KS; a step-daughter, Phyllis Eckhoff of Kearney; twenty-six grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Wilson of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two sons, his second wife, a step-daughter, three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 30, 1989 at Crosby Funeral Chapel of Omaha. The Rev. James Kautz officiated. Burial was at Shelton, Nebraska. Crosby Funeral Chapel of Omaha was in charge of arrangements.
