Bio
Mrs. August Zimpel nee Anna Rabroker, 78 year old pioneer resident of this community died at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16 after a three year illness of paralysis. Services will be conducted in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church here by Father Michael McNamee. Funeral arrangements by Wisener Funeral Home of Fletcher, OK. are pending on the arrival of relatives from other states. (Burial on Sept. 19, 1942) Mrs. Zimpel was born in Ascheberg, Westphalia Province, Germany on Oct.27, 1863, and came to America with her parents in 1866 settling in Pittsburg, PA from where the family moved near Des Moines, IA in 1874 and then to Tarrant County, TX in 1876. In 1877, they moved to Frelsburg, Colorado County, TX, and in 1879 to Falls County, TX where her father, Mr. Theodore Rabroker with his family, was the first settler in what later became the Visitation Parish of Westphalia, TX. On May 16, 1885, she was married to Karl August Zimpel in Westphalia, TX. After living near Burlington, TX for a few years, they moved to Arkansas, and then to Sterling, Oklahoma where Mr. Zimpel died in 1929. Mrs. Zimpel is survived by seven children: Joe Zimpel and Mrs. Josephine Oberste of Clarksville, AK; Frank and Herman Zimpel of Sterling, OK; Mrs. Annie Hatter of Jefferson, WS; Mrs. Kundigunda Jiles of Fort Worth, TX; and Mrs. Howard (Betty) Davis of Davenport, IA. Other survivors include seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Martin (Mary) Roessler of Westphalia, TX. Also surviving are one half-brother, Ben Rabroker of Westphalia, TX and three half-sisters, Clementine Pinkert of Westphalia, TX, Minna Musil of San Angelo, TX, and Josephine Pinkert of Slaton, TX.
