MRS. ARTHUR A. BROWN DIES IN BROKEN BOW HOSPITAL Mrs. Arthur A. Brown of this city passed away at the Carothers hospital, in Broken Bow, at thirty two minutes after midnight Saturday night, that is, at 12:32 o'clock Sunday morning. Mrs. Brown was taken to Broken Bow Tuesday night, July 23, by Robert Spooner a t the request of Dr. C. E. Taylor, as she failed to respond properly to treatment following a stillbirth. However, treatment at the hospital was without improvement and death was the result. The body was brought from Broken Bow and cared for at the Spooner mortuary. The funeral was hold a t the Free Methodist church in this city Tuesday afternoon, commencing a t two o'clock. Fay W. Spooner wa s the funeral director and Rev. C. W. Gossard, pastor of the church, had charge of the religious services and preached the funeral sermon. The singing was by the Misses Laura and Juanita Walton of Beloit, Kansas. The songs used were "Life Is Like a Mountain Railway," "Sometime We'll Understand," and "No Night There." The pall bearers were Grant Hart, Leonard A. Coen, Kenneth Demmitt, Kenneth Brown, William Garner and William Gilbert. Interment was made in the Sargent cemetery. Bernice Mae Owen was born a t St. Edwards, Nebraska, November 3, 1916, and died in a hospital a t Broken Bow, Nebraska, very early Sunday morning, July 28, 1940, a t the age of 24 years, 8 months, and 25 days. She came to Sargent with her father Jack Owen and family nearly ten years ago. She was united in marriage with Arthur A. Brown on January 31, 1934. She leaves to mourn her death her husband and four small daughters, Jennette Leora, aged five years, Joy Ann and Joyce Phoebe, twin sisters, aged four years, and Mabel Elizabeth, two years. She is also survived by her father Jack Owen and three half sisters and two half brothers, all of Lamar, Missouri; a grandmother at Lincoln, Nebraska, and a grandmother in California, three aunts, three uncles, many cousins, and a host of friends. Two of her uncles are Joe Owen of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Walter Owen of Elgin, Nebraska. They are brothers of her father.
