She was the daughter of Marshall DeSpain and Rachel Lynn DeSpain. Her grandfather was Benjamin Lynn, the famous Indian Fighter - Hunter - Scout - Preacher, the Daniel Boone of Northern Kentucky. He played a noteworthy part in the early history of Kentucky. The DeSpain family from which Hannah descended comes from the French Hugenots and maintained many of the early beliefs of the Protestant group.
