Bio

John F Philby was a resident of Winterset, Madison County, Iowa, when he enlisted as a Private on 6 Jan 1862 at the age of 22 years. Mustered in Co I 4th Iowa Cavalry on 22 Jan 1862. Re-enlisted and re-mustered 29 Feb 1863. Mustered out with his company on 8 Aug 1865 at Atlanta, Georgia.
