Bio

William C. Traughber, born September 6, 1770 was a significant figure in the Traughber family genealogy. He was born in York County, Pennsylvania. He moved with his parents to Rockingham County, Virginia about 1779. His parents were Johannes Wilhelm ("William") Trarback (later changed to Traughber) and Elizabrth Catherine Weaver. Around 1809, he and his father moved to Logan County, Kentucky. He also spent some time in Lincoln County, North Carolina, where he married his first wife, Barbara Caplinger, around 1790.
