Bio

William (III) was the grandson of William Trarbach, who was born in Wahlenau, Germany and emigrated with his parents to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1751. He lived in York County and there wed Elizabeth, surname unknown, in about 1766 and had four known children. In 1788, he moved to Rockingham County, Virginia and there his surname became Trobaugh and he had five more children. (See memorial 67444061). William (III) was the son of William (II) Trobaugh, who was born in York County, Pennsylvania in 1770 and moved with his parents to Virginia in 1788. He moved to Lincoln County, North Carolina in about 1789 and there wed Barbara Caplinger in about 1790. He had six children then, in about 1805, moved to Logan County, Kentucky. There his surname became Traughber and he had five more children; one of which was William (III). Barbara died in about 1817 and William wed Mary, surname unknown, and they had five children. (See memorial 57541221). William (III) was the ninth child born to William Traughber and his first wife Barbara Caplinger. In about 1827, he wed Elizabeth, surname unknown, in Logan County, Kentucky. There they had: 1) Mary Ann in 1828 2) Presley in 1830 In about 1832, they moved to Christian County, Illinois and had: 3) William in 1834 4) Andrew in 1834 5) Emanuel in 1836 6) Sarah in 1838 7) Elizabeth in 1841 8) America Jane in 1844 9) John C in 1844 Wife Elizabeth died on March 17, 1846. William then wed Elizabeth Friar in Christian County on April 6, 1847. They had no known children and Elizabeth died between 1850 and 1856. William went to Adairville in Logan County, Kentucky to see his relations and wed Susan Ann Brannon in adjacent Robertson County, Tennessee on May 1, 1856. William returned to his farm in Christian County, Illinois and there was born: 1) Thomas Douglas on 27 Sep 1858 2) George W in 1861
