Bio

John Wood Jr. was born on December 13, 1801, to John Wood Sr. (1764-1848) and Aevas Baird (1773-1840) in Christian County, Kentucky. He grew up in a large family with eight siblings: Hannah, Absalom, Margaret, Isham, Jarrett Benjamin, Andrew, Abraham, and Mary Elizabeth. By 1824, John married Sarah Dallie Crawford (1811–1890) in the Lawrence Township, Lawrence County, Arkansas. The pair had seven children and settled the family in the White River Township, Washington County, Arkansas, by 1840 according to the U.S. Federal Census. On January 3, 1861, John Wood Jr. passed away in Gentry, Benton County, Arkansas and was later was buried in Bozarth Cemetery outside of Gentry.
