Dorothy Marie (Holzer) Courson, 86, of Grand Prairie, formerly of West, passed away Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, in Grand Prairie. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Dorothy Marie was born in Tours, Texas, to the late Joseph J. and Frances (Hlavenka) Holzer. She attended schools in Tours and West. On March 29, 1947, she was united in marriage to Billy Joe Courson in Dallas. The mother of six sons and one daughter, Dorothy dedicated her life to her family. Dorothy enjoyed visiting family and friends but her favorite activity was being the best mom and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 20, 1980; and brothers, Raymond J. Holzer and Joseph John Holzer . Survivors include sons, Greg Courson and wife, Gail, of Highland Village, Mark Courson and wife, Lori, of Denton, Fremont Courson and wife, Colleen, of Garland, Stephen Courson and wife, Teri, of Mesquite, Rodney Courson and wife, Vicky, and Billy Courson, all of Grand Prairie; daughter, Kathy Parker and husband, Ralph, of The Colony; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandaughter; brother, Billy Holzer, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sisters, Bea Stewart, of Waco, Genie Staggs, of Irving, and Sister Angeline Holzer, of San Antonio; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
