Name: Joe C. Spence, 74 Died: 08/03/2010 Mr. Alvin "Joe" Spence, age 74 of Winnsboro, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 with his family at his side. He was born to the late Cary and Gussie Hilburn Spence in Upshur County on the 21st of January in 1936. He married the former Helen Lynch on the 27th of January in 1953. He owned Spence Grocery and Restaurant before retiring and was a member of the Pineview Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Helen Spence of Winnsboro; two sons, Danny Spence and wife Debbie of Haughton, LA., Stevie Spence and wife Melisa of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Beckey Covey and husband Kenny of Winnsboro; six brothers, Morris Spence and wife Francis, Charles Spence and wife Hazel, Jackie Spence and wife Sissy, Vern Spence and wife Sue, Gary Spence, Donald Spence and wife Kathy; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law and wives. Preceding him in death were his parents, and a brother, Paul Spence.
