Bio

Max Satorie was born to his loving parents James Carl and Stella (Ondracek) Satorie on Tuesday March 2, 1915 on a farm near North Bend, Dodge County Nebraska. My research found no information on his childhood or schooling. Max was raised in this community. Max was united in marriage to Elsie Fencl on Wednesday September 8, 1937, they were blessed over the years of their marriage with a daughter and a son. The couple farmed four miles northeast of North Bend. On the morning of Tuesday January 28, 1947 around three thirty in the morning things went terribly wrong, Max's Plymouth coupe he was driving home from North Bend caught on fire east of the school building near Diffey corner. Joe Limback was the first to come across the burning car in the middle of the road. Joe drove the two and half miles to North Bend and notified the night watch of Ed Moser who immediately called the fire department. The fire department responded, but by the time they arrived the car blaze had almost spent itself out. Max for some reason never made it out of his car. The car interior was totally destroyed and Max's body was burned beyond recognition. The fire was investigated but the cause of the fire was never determined. Sadly Max passed at the age of 31 years, 10 months, 26 days which does not include his last days, he lived a total of 11,655 days. Max's funeral was held at the Moser Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon January 29, 1947 at 2p with the Rev. Filipi of Clarkson officiating . Miss Marine Mehaffey presided at the piano with Miss Violet Liles and Mrs. Louise Robertson who sang two duet songs of "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful Garden of Prayer". Max was interred in the Killian (Czech National) Cemetery near Morse Bluff, Saunders County Nebraska. Max's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to Max by a family friend Loren R. I believe all lives matter, even the lives of those who have passed. Many details are still missing from his life, if you have any more details I will be happy to edit the additional information into this biography.
